Some people love them, some people hate them. I personally love them! Being able to just get in the car with my husband and our dog and just drive is an amazing feeling.
This past weekend, we headed on a day trip. Jad (my husband) is on a mission to find a snowy owl! Being photographers, we follow a lot of other photographers on social media. Jad loves landscape/animal photography and one of his bucket list photos is of a snowy owl. So when he sees other photographers posting photos of snowy owls, all he wants to do is go to that spot and find them. That was are goal today! We drove about 2 and a half hours north of Milwaukee in the hopes of finding one.
Any way, back to road trips. Although I love a good day trip, road trip vacations are my favorite. We have done 2 recently that stick in my mind.
1. Philadelphia - We drove from Milwaukee to Philly for Jad’s cousins bar Mitzva. From there, we headed north to Niagara’s Falls. We drove through Canada and entered back into the USA through the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
2. Arizona - We drove from Milwaukee to the Grand Canyon, this time photograph a wedding. From there we went south to Phoenix. After pending a few days there, we headed back up to Milwaukee by way of Route 66. This trip was a first for us, as we took our dog with us the whole time, and it was an adventure.
People ask us all the time ”Why do you like road trips?” So I thought I would give you my top 5 reasons on why I love road trips
1. Spending time with each other
2. Seeing all the country has to offer
3. Not being limited by a 50 lbs bag and 2 carry ons
4. Escape from Reality
5. To unplug
And in case you were wondering, the hunt for a snowy owl is not over!
